What a year!! I honestly cant really believe how much we have done this year at RC Performing Arts, and not just thrown together but achieved so much. When we started out the year in August the aim was to put students through their first ISTD examinations, we were thinking Ballet and Tap. Unfortunately we couldn’t get an examiner for Ballet in summer but we did for Tap. We had students complete their Primary Tap, Grade 1 Tap and Grade 2 Tap alongside 3 performance exams, which is new for ISTD but means students can perform a solo for an additional certificate and feedback.
A big huge well done to the girls who all achieved Merit and Distinction passes. I am so proud of you all for all of the hard work and dedication and for trying something new.
We will now be looking forward to our Winter exam session for ballet, at the end of November/beginning of December.
We also competed in our very first competition, Dance:Compete:Achieve (DCA) Aberdeen. We had 9 students compete in a group routine and with solo routines. Everyone did so amazing and we are so looking forward to the September competition coming up in Term 1.
Not only did we compete and do exams but we also held our annual show at Aberdeen Arts Centre in April 2026! I said to the parents it would be a small showcase, in uniform for those children doing exams but it turned into a full scale show with costumes and routines and everyone had the best time! Of course we cant do anything half measured. We are booked and ready for next years show on 27th March 2027 back at Aberdeen Arts Centre.
It’s been a fantastic year and we cant wait to do it all again next year. Things are going to be a little different as we start the year in August. We are so excited for Miss Meg to welcome her first baby due in Term 1. She will be with us for a couple of weeks to help transition the ballet students to me and she will return after October for some of our classes and then fully after Christmas. Miss Heather will be taking over my Thursday acro classes and she is super excited to get to work with all the students.
I will be teaching our new Cheer Pom and Acro Skills classes on a Wednesday, ballet on a Thursday (until Miss Meg is back), Performance and Acro on a Friday and then our full Saturday classes including pre-school, p1/p2, musical theatre and highland. I cant wait!!
Enjoy the summer holidays everyone! We will see you all back in August.
Miss Becca xxx
