End of Year 2024/25

It’s been a fantastic year at RC Performing Arts with some really brilliant performances.

We started the year with a showcase at the Portlethen Gala, followed by dancing at the Jubilee Hall Christmas Fayre. We of course finished the year with our annual dancing show ‘Journey to Wonderland.’ I have been so proud of all of our dancers performing at each of our performance opportunities this year!! Well done to them all for such confidence to perform in front of a public audience.

We have also been working very hard on our ISTD Ballet with Miss Meg and myself. Our students are going from strength to strength and we hope to enter our first set of examinations in the next school year!! Our ISTD Tap classes have also been excellent. Students have been practicing some really difficult steps and to see it all come together in their RED show dance was amazing! The feedback on their dance has been overwhelmingly great and I’m so proud of them for putting on such a fabulous performance.

Our Acro classes have been busier than ever and students are really determined to get through those progress cards super quick! Practicing their drills as well as improving strength and flexibility has meant some of our students had completed a level by Christmas time! I can’t wait to continue teaching the more difficult skills and seeing where the students progress to in the next year!

Bridge Walking in Primary Acro!! Well done!

Miss Heather has done an amazing job this year with the parent & toddler class on a Saturday morning. The kids have been making shapes, using props, learning to skip, hop, bounce and clap in time with the music (harder said than done). Some of our class will be moving up to pre-school after the holidays so we have lots of spaces for new toddlers to come along after summer.

I was wowed by the performances of our musical theatre classes this year in the show. Our Junior class performed the opening number and finale and our mini class performed the cutest Mad Hatters Tea Party number. We gave the two MT classes the opportunity to audition for roles within our show this year and from those auditions we had 13 characters in our show. Each character learned lines, performed in scenes. Learned and recorded songs to sing and performed their hearts out on stage. I was so proud and it really brought our show together in a way we couldn’t have imagined when we started planning.

I have struggled with health issues towards the end of this school year and I look forward to having my surgery next week and recovering over the holidays to get back to classes in August. We have had some fantastic feedback from parents this year and are really excited to plan more performance opportunities, exams and shows for next year!!!
