We had such a great first term back to dancing from August-October. I returned from maternity leave to teaching on a Thursday and Friday afternoons alongside Miss Meg returning on a Thursday and Miss Heather returning on a Saturday morning. We now have over 90 students attending RC Performing Arts going into Term 2.
We started the term with a performance at the Portlethen Gala on Saturday 17th August. Our fabulous mixed tap class performed their Barbie 'Pink' routine. Mini Musical theatre performed 'Be our Guest' and our Pre-school Acro class were the very best at being bad, performing their 'Bad Guys' dance from our 2024 Show. Well done to everyone who performed, it was our first public performance and the children all did so well.
Classes got off to a great start and students started learning their new ISTD grade work. In ballet we now have classes up to Grade 2 Ballet, in tap the Grade 2 class have now started working on Grade 3 which is really fun. In Acro all of the children have started working on new progress cards or are heading towards completing levels they started before the summer break. Our classes have been super busy as always and so new classes will be on offer in Term 2.
Our level 3 class are really working hard on new advanced skills and have been getting on so well with some students almost ready to move onto level 4. Even I've been trying things I haven't done for years.
We celebrated our 4th Birthday with balloons from my mum again. We had such a fun night taking photos in class with our balloons and looking back through old photos from when some of our students were only 18months old and now they are Primary 2 students!
We are looking forward to another public performance in Term 2 - the Portlethen Jubilee Hall Christmas Fayre on Sunday 10th November at 3pm. And we will be working towards our annual Christmas parent display evening where we invite parents to come along and attend classes to see what the children have been learning and working on throughout the remainder of 2024.
